Effective information management is crucial to driving and sustaining competitive advantage.
Ensuring the right information is available on a timely and secure basis is critical to the modern organization.
It requires agreement on what information is important, how is it managed and critically how it is delivered to the various stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization.
Most organizations approach this in an ad-hoc manner until such time as the information flow becomes unreliable, outdated and inconsistent and detrimentally impacts business performance.
The problem is evidenced by numerous databases, proliferation of spreadsheets, different reporting tools and unclear or ambiguous definitions of terms and performance measures. It is evidenced by disparate and inconsistent methods in presenting information to stakeholders and varying ways in managing it.

Wave assists its clients to achieve effective information management through the development of an Information Strategy and Information Management Plan.
Information Strategy
The Information Strategy is aligned to the Business Strategy and is a companion to the Information Technology Strategy. Its focus is on information management holistically covering both structured and unstructured data. This means that all information across the organisation is ultimately managed under the strategy. Simply, this prevents islands of information occurring at the strategic level.
Complementary to the development of an Information Strategy is the process of establishing an Enterprise Architecture.
Information Management Plan
The Information Management Plan sets out how the organization's information requirements will be met over time.
The Information Management Plan sets out the priorities and budget at a high level given that technologies and business imperatives will change and the organization will continue to adapt. The Information Management Plan provides the framework to support these changes and shifting priorities.
